Legendary director Kasinadhuni Viswanath is no more, TFI pays tribute

The passing of veteran director, actor, and screenwriter Kasinadhuni Viswanath has shocked the Telugu film industry. At the age of 92, the renowned filmmaker breathed his last in a private hospital in Hyderabad late on Thursday due to an age-related illness.

Kasinadhuni Viswanath had been active in the film industry since the 1950s. Born in 1930 in Repalle, Andhra Pradesh, he began his career as a sound recordist at Vahini Studios in Madras, where his father, K Subramanyam, worked as an associate.

The veteran filmmaker earned a name for himself with his directorial venture Sankarabharanam (1979), which brought him critical acclaim across India. He is also credited with directing some of the most successful and acclaimed Telugu films, including Sirivennela (1986), Swathi Muthyam, Shwayam Krishni, and Apadhbandhavudu.

Kasinadhuni Viswanath also acted in a few films and was last seen in the 2022 Kannada movie Oppanda. He also wrote the scripts of several films and was associated with some of the most successful projects in the industry. His contribution to the Telugu film industry was recognized with several awards, including nine National Film Awards, five Filmfare Awards, the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, the Padma Shri, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The news of his demise has left the Telugu film industry in shock, with many celebrities taking to social media to express their disbelief. They have also expressed their condolences and fond memories of the veteran filmmaker.
