The film’s original song, “Naatu Naatu”, sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairva, was nothing short of a phenomenon. On March 13th (IST), the 95th Academy Awards took place and the “Naatu Naatu” song was up for the coveted award.

When the time came to announce the winner, many were expecting “Naatu Naatu” to bag the award. And when the names of MM Keeravani and Chandrabose were announced, it was a moment of sheer joy. What does this feel like to take it back to India the motherland?
MM Keeravani: It feels like I am standing on the top of the world and I’m really feeling very proud of my country and my whole team, who just dedicated their uh energy and time for this song including Lyricist Mr. Chandra Bose, thank you.
What is a Challenging thing for you when writing lyrics for Naatu Naatu?
Chandrabose: Telugu has 56 letters we have lots of words, a lot of Expressions, and a lot of feelings in our language, very great language and very literary language very musical language Telugu. If we write an ordinary word it will sound like a piece of music, so in this song in RRR Telugu lovers will love the meaning but non-Telugu people like you people are loving the song means this kind of sounding kind of music inside the song makes this possible.
You made history, I just want to know how does it feel and what does it mean to you personally to represent your culture and to make such a big win with that amazing song?
MMK: Right now, I’m on Cloud Nine and I feel very uh blessed to back this kind of greatest recognition of the world for my country for my culture for my motherland, and for my movie industry from the Telugu language this feels so great
Chandrabose: the only thing running through my mind now is I have to go to India, I want to show this award to my wife and my children, thank you.
Bringing more recognition to other artists in India, can you talk a little bit more about that?
MMK: I feel this all about it’s just the beginning of everything so that the world particularly the Western world focuses more on Indian music and Asian music, which is long due and I feel uh very happy but it is like opening doors for the world to embrace our culture and music hereafter.
What was the inspiration behind Naatu Naatu?
MMK: Naatu Naatu is the pure original cultural genre of Indian music, particularly South Indian music which has lots of percussions The Rustic uh texture of the music brings it out with beautiful words written by Chandra Bose and beautiful steps composed by our choreographer Prem Rakshit, so it’s a great deal of teamwork which brought us this far and to back this greatest award.
