Aha, the Telugu OTT platform enters the Tamil market.
The top video streaming platform, aha, forayed into Tamil Nadu with the formal debut of the ‘aha Tamil’ OTT platform, along with a strong slate of original Tamil web series and movie releases, following its tremendous success in the Telugu market. As brand ambassadors, aha Tamil has signed actor Silambarasan and music composer Anirudh Ravichander.
Launched in March 2020 as a Telugu-only OTT platform, aha quickly grew in popularity and subscriptions because of a jump in online video consumption amid the Covid-19 outbreak and increased demand for regional content.
aha has over 1.7+ million paying customers and 26+ million-plus downloads, catering primarily to the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, after attracting one million subscribers within a year of its introduction. Arha Media & Broadcasting Private Limited, a joint venture between Geetha Arts and My Home Group, owns the station.
This year, on the occasion of Pongal, aha stated that it would be introducing a new platform dedicated just to streaming Tamil content in the near future. it was formally launched on April 14, the Tamil New Year. In a ceremony conducted in the city, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin formally launched the OTT app.

“We are ecstatic to introduce our slate, which was created locally with Tamilnadu creators. “It’s a compilation of different stories and genres told through web series and movies,” said Allu Arvind, aha’s promoter.
“We are overwhelmed with the response and love we have received for aha, both in India and from the Indian diaspora dispersed around the world,” stated Ajit Thakur, CEO of aha. However, it still feels like we’re only getting started, and we’ve only scratched the surface of what it’ll take for aha to become the global standard for Tamil entertainment.”
