Nawazuddin Siddiqui Statements:

During his training days, Nawazuddin confessed that he used to immerse himself in the acting styles of legends like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. “I was in that phase for three to four months. My teacher would advise me not to do it,” he said. However, on the first day of shooting Gangs Of Wasseypur, Nawazuddin couldn’t resist going all out and ended up resembling Al Pacino in his portrayal.

Anurag Kashyap, the director of the film, wasn’t too pleased with Nawazuddin’s performance. He scolded him for going overboard with his imitation and told him to drop the facade. Anurag advised Nawazuddin to simply be himself and assured him that he would look dangerous without having to play a character with excessive power. Nawazuddin took Anurag’s words to heart and discarded the Al Pacino persona overnight.

However, this sudden change left him restless, and he couldn’t sleep all night due to the anxiety. The next morning, Nawazuddin showed up on set as his true self, without any pretense or imitation. This incident highlights the dedication and versatility of Nawazuddin Siddiqui as an actor. It also showcases the guidance and creative direction provided by Anurag Kashyap, who recognized the need for Nawazuddin to embrace his own uniqueness rather than imitating someone else.
