According to estimates from distributor Walt Disney Co. on Sunday, the Marvel Studios action film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” made $330 million in ticket sales globally over its opening weekend and broke box office records in the United States and Canada.

Both audiences and exhibitors anxiously anticipated Wakanda Forever as they had experienced a poor period at the box office since the summer movie season had ended and there were fewer bigger-budget blockbusters in the works. The movie had a tremendous opening day, earning $84 million, including $28 million from Thursday previews, outpacing even the first movie.

According to Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, “some may have hoped for $200 million like the first picture, but this is solid.” The kind of film that cinemas truly need to draw crowds is this one.

Black Panther A follow-up to Black Panther, which was released in 2018, is Wakanda Forever. Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Dominique Thorne, and Michaela Coel are a few of the actors in the cast.

Ryan Coogler is the director of Black Panther Wakanda Forever. He previously helmed the superhero film Black Panther, the biographical drama Fruitvale Station, and the sports drama Creed.
