“I’m not comfortable to liplocks” Shivani Rajasekhar On Rejecting Uppena

Shivani Rajasekhar, the eldest daughter of Jeevitha and Rajasekhar, recently made headlines when she revealed her reasons for rejecting the highly successful film Uppena. The romantic drama, directed by Sukumar’s disciple Buchi Babu Sana, marked the debut of Mega nephew Panja Vaishnav Tej and introduced actress Krithi Shetty as the female lead. Uppena went on to become the first 100-crore club film to star a debut hero in India and even won the Best Telugu Film Award at the 69th National Film Awards.

Following the success of Uppena, Krithi Shetty’s career soared as she received multiple offers. However, it was not Krithi Shetty who originally got the opportunity to act in the movie. The chance was offered to Shivani Rajasekhar, who ultimately turned it down. In a recent interview, Shivani opened up about why she rejected the film.

According to Shivani, when she received the offer to act in Uppena, the story draft included bold and intimate scenes that made her uncomfortable. She was unsure if she could convincingly portray those scenes. Making a bold decision, Shivani decided to decline the offer. Little did she know that fate had something else in store for her.

After Shivani rejected the film, the script underwent changes, and Krithi Shetty eventually took on the role. It is widely known that Uppena featured a few intimate scenes, which turned out to be pivotal for the character. Shivani expressed that even now, if she were to be offered a role with similar scenes, she would have to carefully evaluate whether she would be comfortable with them.

It is unfortunate for Shivani Rajasekhar that the script was altered after she rejected the film, ultimately benefiting Krithi Shetty’s career. However, Shivani’s honesty and willingness to prioritize her comfort and boundaries are commendable. Despite not being a part of Uppena, Shivani continues her journey in the industry, hoping to find roles that align with her vision as an actress.

As the audience, we must respect the decisions made by actors and actresses regarding the projects they choose to be a part of. Each individual has their own set of boundaries and comfort levels, and it is crucial that these are taken into consideration. Let us celebrate the diverse choices made by artists in the industry and support their journey, regardless of the paths they choose to take.
