Pooja Hegde or Samantha? Who will be in ‘Shakuntalam’

Tollywood popular filmmaker Gunasekhar has recently announced his next project titled ‘Shakuntalam’. According to the reports, Gunasekhar approached ‘Radhe Shyam‘ actress Pooja Hegde to play the female lead. 

It is a Mythological drama that revolves around Shakunthala, the daughter of the sage Viswamithra and Menaka. And it is based upon a love affair, secret marriage, and reunion of the love of Dushyanta and Shakuntala.  

The latest reports reveal that Pooja Hegde did not show any interest to play the titular role of ‘Shakunthala’. Now, according to the latest buzz, Samantha Akkineni will play the lead role in ‘Shakuntalam’. Although, Official confirmation is awaited. 

Earlier, Director Gunasekhar planned to come up with Hiranyakashyapa with Rana Daggubati in the lead role. But that film didn’t go on floors due to various reasons. 

Gunasekhar’s Shakuntalam is bankrolled by his daughter Neelima. Manisharma is the music director.
