Sarileru Nekevvaru : A commercial action entertainer

Moviezupp rating: 3/5

Cast : Mahesh Babu, Vijayashanthi, Rashmika Mandanna, Sangeetha, Prakash Raj, Bandla Ganesh, Rao Ramesh, Vennela Kishore.

Director: Anil Ravipudi

Ajay Krishna(Mahesh babu) is a major in the Indian army, who sent to Kurnool to pass the message of the injured officer’s condition to his mother. Ajay’s mother is Bharathi(Vijayashanthi), a professor, who lives with her three daughters. By the time he reaches Kurnool, Bharathi has already landed in huge trouble caused by a local politician(Prakash Raj). What happens next is the rest of the story.

Anil Ravipudi has checked all those boxes which have been using since his debut film Pataas like Lengthy comedy sequences, catchphrases and some mass moments. Since the film starred superstar, he expanded the canvas for the story but his trademark elements are the same.

The scenes between Mahesh and Vijayashanthi just before the title anthem is touching. However, the rest of the drama is nothing but a commercial package. The Villain’s characterization is nothing new, and a weak climax and lengthy comedy episode on a train journey are a turn-off for the general audience.

After serious characters in recent films like Bharath Ane Nenu and Maharshi, Mahesh Babu has done a role that offered him to go full throttle in expressions. He has performed really well. Vijayshanthi after her 13 years comeback has got a role that is perfectly suited for her onscreen image. Rashmika did decent in her little role in this film.

Rao Ramesh, Sangeetha, Subbaraju and Vennela Kishore have played regular roles. Bandla Ganesh in his comeback leaves no mark.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is in sync with the story. Especially ‘Mind block’ song will appeal to Mahesh Babu’s fans. He has danced with high energy and full enthusiasm. Art Director AS Prakash has recreated Kurnool’s Buruju in a set and some other realistic sets. He deserves praise for his sets. Rathnavelu is good behind the camera.

Sarileru Neekavvaru is a packaged commercial entertainer with all the mass movie ingredients. Superstar fans will really enjoy the film as Mahesh Babu has given his best in unbridled mass avatar.
