FIR filed against Prabhas- Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush!
It’s no secret that the teaser for Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush had been met with heavy criticism when it was released last year. On the occasion of Ram Navami, the makers released a brand-new poster to kickstart the promotional campaign for the film, but that too has been met with opposition.
An FIR has been registered against the director and producer of Adipurush after a complaint was made regarding the poster. As per reports, the FIR has been registered for hurting the religious sentiments of people by depicting a figure from Hindu mythology inappropriately.
The poster featured Prabhas as Lord Ram while Kriti Sanon played the role of his wife Sita. The poster was criticized by people from various sects of Hinduism for not being true to the source material. Many argued that the poster was a representation of Lord Rama that did not do justice to his depiction in Hindu mythology.
The filmmaker and producer have yet to respond to this controversy, but it is certain that this new poster is not being received well by all. It remains to be seen how the makers deal with the situation and if they will take any necessary steps to rectify the poster.
According to Sanjay Tiwari’s complaint, Adipurush is based on the biography of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram from the religious book Ramcharitmanas. He alleged that the new poster of the film shows Lord Ram in a costume contrary to the natural spirit and nature of Ramcharitmanas. Sanjay further stated that none of the Ramayana’s characters is wearing the Janeu, a garment with special significance in Hindu Sanatana Dharma.
One has to wait and see how the Adipurush team deals with this new issue and what actions they will take to make sure that the public is not offended. In any case, it is important to be respectful of people’s beliefs while making movies.
